Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. seeks an experienced Residential Manager to lead one of our community residences for adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

You will supervise staff, ensure high-quality care, and maintain compliance with agency and state standards. Reporting to the Residential Coordinator, the role is full-time and exempt, with schedule flexibility beyond a standard Monday–Friday workweek.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience supporting individuals with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience and NJ driver’s license or ability to obtain within three months.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily residential operations and ensure quality services.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support residential staff.
  • Create staff schedules and maintain appropriate coverage.
  • Provide direct support, including personal care, transportation, medication oversight, and daily living assistance.
  • Support residents in achieving ISP goals and coordinate ISP meetings.
  • Coordinate with families and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with Medicaid, DDD, and agency requirements.
  • Promote community inclusion and meaningful activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
  • Respond to emergencies and operational needs.

New Horizons in Autism (NHIA) is seeking an experienced Residential Manager to lead one of our community residences supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities. Since 1980, NHIA has provided person-centered services that promote independence, dignity, and quality of life throughout Bergen, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Residential Coordinator, the Residential Manager oversees the daily operations of a community residence, supervises residential staff, and ensures high-quality care and compliance with agency and state standards.


This is a full-time, exempt position requiring flexibility to meet the needs of the residence beyond a traditional Monday–Friday schedule.

  • Coordinate ISP meetings and collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams

  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with Medicaid, DDD, and agency requirements

  • Promote community inclusion and meaningful activities

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and operational needs


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred

  • At least two years of experience supporting individuals with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities

  • At least two years of supervisory experience

  • Residential services and Therap experience preferred

  • Valid New Jersey driver's license (or ability to obtain one within three months)

  • Must meet all employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, physical exam, and required DDD training
