Job summary

The City of McAllen invites applications for a Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled manual labor involved with construction, repair, and maintenance of City facilities or servicing operations such as refuse collection, street cleaning, and water/sewer work. The incumbent works under direct supervision and follows routine decision processes with no supervisory duties.

Main duties include assisting with various city services, adhering to safety regulations, and supporting maintenance activities

• Assist with refuse collection, brush collection, street cleaning, graffiti cleaning, signs installations, and water and sewer installation and/or repair.
• Work under direct supervision and comply with all safety rules and regulations.

Job description

Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker performs unskilled manual labor involved with construction, repair, and maintenance of City facilities or servicing an operation, such as refuse collection, brush collection, street cleaning, graffiti cleaning, signs installations, and water and sewer installation and/or repair. The incumbent may be assigned a number of tasks, including reporting requirements associated with such tasks. The Maintenance Worker is under immediate supervision and has no responsibilities for reports or records, and decisions are made on a routine level. The employee has little or no contact with the public and has no supervisory responsibilities. Must abide by all safety rules and regulations.
