Responsibilities

• Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical, and academic experiences.
• Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high‑quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well‑being.

Qualifications

• Education: Obtained an Associate’s Degree (or higher) in an applicable discipline from an accredited institution of higher education, or completion of 60 semester hours of study in an applicable discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Experience: 1 year of residential life/home living related work experience.
• Applicable academic disciplines include fields related to working with children, such as child development, education, behavioral sciences, and cultural studies. Qualifying experience should be in the same line of work or a similar job involving working with school children.
• Physical Requirement: Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters without strain (glasses permitted). Ability to hear conversational voice with or without a hearing aid is required. An amputation of arm, hand, leg, or foot will not disqualify an applicant for appointment, although the condition may need to be compensated by satisfactory prosthesis. Applicants must have mental and emotional stability. The position requires normal physical activity with the work, field travel, and attendance at meetings and conferences from the duty station.
