Job description

Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience.

Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise children (grades Kindergarten thru 5th) in a residential setting.
• Assist with daily activities such as making beds, daily hygiene, housekeeping, etc.
• Ensure safety and well-being of students.
• Provide supplemental educational assistance such as helping with homework, encouraging good manners, and assisting with money handling.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three (3) months of related experience required (post‑secondary education can be substituted for experience; applicant must have 32 semester hours in a related field to qualify without experience).
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to supervise children, assist with daily activities, ensure safety, and provide supplemental educational assistance.

Physical Requirements

• Normal standing, walking in classroom/activity room situations and similar movements around the dormitory or school.
• May be required to participate in outdoor and off‑site activities.
