Job summary

IES Residential in Carrollton, TX, is seeking an HVAC Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates for residential projects. You will analyze plans, perform takeoffs, and prepare detailed proposals for labor, materials, and equipment.

The role is office-based, with hands-on HVAC experience preferred. Strong reading of drawings, math skills, and familiarity with HVAC codes are required. Proficiency in office software and collaboration with managers and clients are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in residential construction.
• Hands‑on HVAC experience as installer/technician strongly preferred.
• Proficient at reading plans and project specs.
• Able to calculate quantities with basic algebra and geometry.
• Familiar with HVAC codes and local standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Division Managers and clients to clarify project details and present estimates.
• Maintain organized records of all estimates, correspondence and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, regulations and company standards.

Job Overview

IES Residential is seeking a self‑motivated, detail‑oriented HVAC Estimator to support our HVAC divisions by developing accurate and timely cost estimates for residential projects. The role is well suited for early‑to‑mid‑career HVAC professionals with hands‑on residential experience such as installers or service technicians who are looking to transition into an office‑based role.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, technical manuals and project specifications.
• Skilled in writing professional reports and business correspondence.
• Effective verbal communication skills; able to present information and respond to inquiries.
• Comfortable working with office software and digital technical tools.
• Basic algebra and geometry – able to calculate quantities accurately.
• Ability to conceptualize project requirements from limited information.
• Follow verbal, written or diagrammatic instructions.
• Familiarity with HVAC codes and local compliance standards.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and tight deadlines.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
• Familiarity with HVAC design and estimating software such as Wrightsoft, AutoCAD or similar platforms is preferred.
• Experience with digital estimating tools (e.g., Accubid Anywhere) is a plus.
• General computer literacy and ability to adapt to new software systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office setting and requires extended periods of computer use. Occasional visits to job sites may be necessary for project review or coordination.
