The Crew Lead has been established to achieve the company goals in residential Solar needs. The Crew Lead will play an essential part in ensuring our customers’ PV Systems and other energy systems are installed efficiently, to code and will perform at optimal levels.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Crew Lead Reports directly to the Area Superintendent. Area Superintendent reports directly to the Dir. Of Construction. The Area Superintendent will work in conjunction with the Construction Manager to ensure all project goals are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the completion of each PV+ or battery only construction projects in accordance with the engineer’s drawings and specifications and AHJ building codes. Ensure compliance with all contract documents.
• Install new PV+ or battery only projects.
• Able to install adder systems to existing systems.
• Efficient in commissioning new or replaced systems.
• Able to troubleshoot solar inverters, micro inverters, power optimizers and batteries.
• Knows how to identify PV ground faults, arc faults, and PV system wiring.
• Install or repair commission PV monitoring equipment along with customer Ethernet connection.
• Contacting manufacturers to validate/authorize warranty replacement of faulty equipment.
• Troubleshoot PV System performance issues for shade analysis interpretation/documentation and obtain required forensic photo documentation.
• Set up/administer home energy web-based accounts for PV solar and/or home consumption monitoring.
• Access rooftop systems and proper usage of extension ladders.
• Identify rooftop integrity and future potential problems.
• Provide materials lists, scope of work, and estimated timeline for installs
• Be knowledgeable with current NEC and OSHA codes.
• Installation of residential electrical circuits including EV Chargers, HVAC, SPA, and other branch circuits.
• Bending electrical conduit 1/2’’ to 1-1/4’’ in residential applications.
• Installing Romex wire in residential applications.
• Be a leader and is able to run a 2-4 person team.
• Works with and understands blueprints, electrical schematics and job specifications.
• Properly Communicates effectively to clients about issues, provides valuable solutions, and uses pricing guide to present options to the homeowner.
• Work closely with Area Superintendent and Construction Manger on training needs and requirements for all field personnel.
• Other duties assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

The base pay for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of three years of technical field electrical experience
• California-certified General or Residential Electrician preferred
• NABCEP Certified Installer or Technician preferred
• IBEW Local 569 membership in good standing
• Valid NECA/IBEW Drug-Free Workforce Clean Card
• Valid driver’s license
• Successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening as a condition of employment

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and electrical installation practices
• Knowledge of residential electrical systems
• Knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems and installation practices
• Knowledge of battery backup energy-storage systems preferred
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, diagrams, specifications, and applicable electrical codes
• Ability to diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate solutions
• Ability to provide professional customer service and communicate technical information clearly

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Proficiency in residential electrical installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
• Solar PV installation experience
• Battery backup energy-storage system experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and required safety equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment includes indoor as well as outdoor settings and can range in temperature from 30°F to 110°F. The work surface can include unfinished crawl spaces and attics as well as roof tops, walk-in freezers, and concrete floors or pads. The starting salary for this opportunity range is listed.
