Join to apply for the Residential Driver role at Waste Industries.

The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport them to post-collection facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate residential/recycling collection trucks, ancillary equipment, and hydraulic systems to collect waste and recyclables on assigned routes.
2. Load waste, yard waste, and recyclables into the vehicle.
3. Operate equipment to compact trash into the vehicle.
4. Perform safety inspections and report issues.
5. Maintain route quality standards and safety compliance.
6. Keep the vehicle clean and identify prohibited waste items.
7. Manage helpers if applicable and work with supervisors to improve routing.
8. Follow all safety and operational procedures, including wearing PPE at all times.
9. Report accidents or incidents immediately.
10. Maintain accurate records and inventory of containers and parts.
11. Attend safety and branch meetings and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
3. At least one year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certification.
4. Ability to meet safety-sensitive criteria according to company standards.
5. Ability to safely operate trucks and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance.
2. Ability to maneuver trucks in tight spaces and recognize unacceptable waste.
3. Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
4. Flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement.
5. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and operate in loud environments.

Physical and Mental Demands

1. Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
2. Visual and physical capacity to handle the demands of the job.

Working Conditions

1. Exposure to loud noise, weather extremes, mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
2. Work primarily outdoors, often far from the branch location, in traffic and high places.
