Position Summary

The Waste Pro Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. Oversees helpers assisting on the route; performs pre-trip and post-trip truck checks and cleaning; and performs other related work as assigned. Work is performed under supervision with ongoing performance reviews.

Essential Job Functions

• Safely drives truck on pre-established routes in accordance with Decision Driving principles within prescribed time. Collects and dumps garbage and refuse into trucks, unloading at landfills or transfer stations.
• Provides courteous and efficient customer service, exhibiting a positive attitude towards company, customer, and municipal goals.
• Ensures proper collection of garbage and recyclables; tags improper containers and waste.
• Performs daily pre- and post-trip inspections per Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines, including checking under the hood, undercarriage, fluid levels, and tires.
• Maintains cleanliness of the truck, washes exterior weekly, and inspects the vehicle regularly.
• Performs manual cleanup duties, moves and empties large trash bins using hydraulics.
• Prepares and submits required reports and documents.
• Responsible for all persons working on the vehicle during routes.
• Complies with all DOT and state requirements for operating commercial vehicles.
• May be required to work during emergency situations.

Other Responsibilities

• Attends and participates in training courses as assigned.
• Keeps up-to-date with current technology used by Waste Pro.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
