Position Summary

The Residential Driver operates refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. Oversees helpers, performs vehicle inspections, and handles related tasks. Work is supervised, with performance reviewed through direct observation and route discussions.

Essential Job Functions

• Safely drives trucks on established routes, collecting and dumping refuse while adhering to safety principles and time schedules.
• Provides courteous and efficient customer service, exhibiting a positive attitude towards company and community goals.
• Ensures proper pickup of garbage and recyclables, including back door service if needed; tags improper containers.
• Performs daily vehicle inspections and safety checks following company and DOT guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness of trucks, including exterior washes and inspections under the hood and undercarriage.
• Assists with cleanup of scattered refuse and moves large trash bins as needed.
• Prepares and submits required reports and documents.
• Responsible for the safety and performance of all persons working on the vehicle during routes.
• Complies with all DOT and state vehicle operation requirements.
• May be required to work during emergencies.

Other Responsibilities

• Attends and participates in training courses as assigned.
• Keeps up-to-date with current technology used by Waste Pro.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Works in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, weather, noise, fumes, odors, and dust.
