Job summary

MLA Move Language Ahead is seeking a Director of Studies for MLA New York at Ramapo College of NJ. The role oversees the academic programme, leading teachers and staff, and coordinating with the Academic Manager for a six-day workweek during a residential summer session at Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ.

The DoS will plan and deliver the curriculum, assign classes and materials, organize inductions and CPD, and ensure MLA values are upheld in all academic activities.

Qualifications

• Must have right to work in the US.
• Criminal background check completed satisfactorily.
• Child abuse clearance may also be required.
• At least 2 references.
• ESL or English teaching experience with teenagers.
• Proficient in IT.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for teaching and learning in the centre.
• Develop MLA’s academic philosophy and best practices.
• Manage MLA Boards software and records.
• Coordinate with Group Leaders and staff on academic matters.
• Timetable and organize inductions and CPD sessions.
• Represent MLA values to staff and students.
• Report to the Academic Manager.
• Work six days per week.
• Residential employment from late June to mid-August.
