Job summary

Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) seeks an Assistant Manager for its Residential Dining program. The role leads a team to create a welcoming, inclusive dining environment that supports diverse, nutritious, and sustainable food across campus housing and dining venues.

You will oversee catering and board programs, ensure service excellence, manage staff, and uphold HUDS quality, safety, and cost standards while engaging with a broad campus community.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience.
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
• Experience with the sale and execution of catered events.
• Experience managing in a unionized environment.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and applications.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays and be on-call as needed.
• ServSafe Certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of hourly and temporary staff to deliver excellent service.
• Ensure HUDS and University quality policies, inventory control, and cost management.
• Maintain clean, safe kitchen and dining areas; check equipment and facilities.
• Provide hospitality training and mentorship; communicate expectations and feedback.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and HUDS policies.
• Manage Kronos timekeeping and staffing to fill shifts per union contract.
