Job summary

Community Teamwork is seeking a part-time Residential Counselor for every other weekend day shift in Lowell, MA. The role focuses on life skills support for shelter clients within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework.

You will help enforce safety, oversee site operations, and provide crisis intervention when needed, while documenting per program guidelines and maintaining CTI values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience in human services preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
• Proficient with basic computer software and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site.
• Enforce rules and regulations for smooth site operation.
• Respond to emergencies, document appropriately, and communicate per guidelines.
• Complete intake for new guests and provide support and structure.
• Initiate crisis intervention when necessary.
• Record documentation as required by program guidelines.

Part time: Every other Saturday and Sunday 8AM-4PM

Pay Range $20.59 to $21.21 per hour

Position Summary

This Residential Counselor will work in our Shelter Staff program and will be responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations, which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma-informed and client-centered approach.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and the site
• Enforce rules and regulations to ensure smooth operation of the site
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, document appropriately, and communicate according to established guidelines
• Complete the intake process for new guestsProvide support and structure, addressing guest/resident problems or concerns
• Initiate crisis intervention when necessary
• Record documentation as required by program guidelines
• Uphold the values of CTI - Equity, Integrity, Compassion

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• At least one year of previous experience working in the human services field with individuals in need of social services (preferably low income individuals) is required
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection
