Job summary

Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT, is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide a safe, therapeutic milieu for patients in Residential Programs and support growth and independence. The role is full-time with weekend hours.

You will supervise daily activities, monitor risks, assist with medication administration, collaborate with the treatment team, and lead in-house groups. A Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field is preferred, with CPR/BLS certification after hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field.
• Previous work experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification obtained after hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and oversee daily activities and crisis management.
• Encourage patient participation and monitor behavior changes; assess suicide and fall risk as needed.
• Monitor self-administration of medication and ensure orders; report medication errors.
• Collaborate with treatment team on patient observations.
• Conduct in-house group meetings and provide skill coaching.
• Maintain patient records and complete discharge documentation.
• Cover house operations in absence of Senior Residential Counselor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
