Job summary

Community Resources For Justice (CRJ) in Paxton, MA is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide direct support in group homes for adults with developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and accurate documentation of progress and incidents.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (associates/bachelors preferred in human services), strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; related degrees preferred.
• Prior experience in residential or behavioral health is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must pass required certifications and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication monitoring, and transportation.
• Foster a positive and respectful community environment.
• Document resident progress and incidents accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans.
• Respond to crises and implement de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Supervise and transport clients during assigned hours; this may include job interviews, medical appointments, weekly recreation, religious services, and shopping trips
• Support and teach clients new skills including, but not limited to, specific goals in the clients' Individual Service Plan
• Acting as a positive role model for the client to support attaining the highest quality of life while maintaining their safety in all settings
• Administering medications and completing appropriate documentation in a timely manner, such as progress notes, weekly summaries, and attendance

Schedule: Full Time, 32 hours per week, [First, Second, and Third Shift]
Salary: The starting rate for this position is $20/hr. and is benefits eligible

CRJ's Disabilities Services supports adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities through specialized programs in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We offer a range of residential and day programs to support people in the places they want to live and work. We provide care tailored to the needs of individuals we serve; we don't look to make the individuals fit into our programs.

What You’ll Bring:
