Job summary

SCO Family of Service in New York, NY seeks a dedicated Food Service Worker to develop, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for individuals served, in accordance with OPWDD, CMS, HCBS Waiver, and therapeutic diet orders.

You will maintain sanitation and safety, order supplies, post weekly menus, and collaborate with the Residence Manager and IDT to plan meals that respect allergies, cultural preferences, and individual dignity.

Qualifications

• New York State Driver’s License required.
• Obtain and Maintain Food Handling certification.
• Lift up to 25-50 pounds.
• Stand for several hours.
• High School Diploma and experience in food service.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting.
• Compliance with health regulations and SCIP-R/First Aid CPR & AED training.
• Cook for a large number of people.
• Minimum of one-year professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, prepare, and serve nutritious meals meeting dietary needs.
• Maintain sanitation, proper food handling, and temperature control.
• Order and maintain adequate food, supplies, and equipment.
• Collaborate with Residence Manager and IDT on menus and meal planning.
• Post weekly menus for administrative approval.
• Support dietary plans respecting allergies, intolerances, and cultural needs.
• Attend meetings and participate in staff development as required.
