Job summary

Stephen Alexander Homes & Neighborhoods seeks a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing Manager and keep residential construction projects on schedule and within budget. You will update pricing, assist with budgets, and manage supplier data and bids from subcontractors and vendors.

The role emphasizes independent work, accurate cost control, and process improvements to enhance efficiency in a family-owned homebuilding environment.

Qualifications

• Construction industry knowledge or residential construction experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work independently and take direction.
• Excellent communication via phone and email.
• Proficiency with Mac OS, Excel, Word and QuickBooks.
• Ability to build Excel spreadsheets and use pricing formulas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update pricing for option sheets, upgrades and cost spreadsheets.
• Enter pricing data from subcontractors and vendors.
• Assist with budgets for house plans and neighborhoods.
• Maintain material takeoffs and option pricing formulas.
• Update subcontractor scope-of-work and specs.
• Manage vendor records in our construction program.
• Request and track insurance certificates from vendors/subcontractors.
• Prepare and send bid requests and follow up on inquiries.
• Issue purchase orders to vendors/subcontractors.
• Update contract selection templates and rebate programs.
