Job summary

State of South Carolina’s Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is seeking an investigator to conduct regulatory investigations of licensees within the Residential Builders Commission. The role involves drafting subpoenas, documenting findings, and maintaining case files to ensure compliance with state statutes.

You will collaborate with local, state, and federal officials, present findings to the IRC, and seek guidance from ODC on legal matters.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience.
  • Prior investigative experience or regulatory investigations preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential or commercial regulatory principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine, complex, and sensitive investigations of violations of state statutes and regulations governing licensees within agency time guidelines for the Residential Builders Commission.
  • Draft subpoenas for documents and interview witnesses; prepare reports detailing findings and maintain case files.
  • Collaborate with officials and agencies at local, state, and federal levels; present case findings to the Investigative Review Committee (IRC).
  • Work with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel to obtain guidance on legal issues or sufficiency of evidence.
