Job summary

John Joseph Construction in Wisconsin is seeking a skilled carpenter to lead residential projects, including new construction, renovations and repairs. You will interpret plans, take precise measurements, and install finishes while maintaining a clean, safe, and productive jobsite.

The role demands strong carpentry experience, ability to read blueprints, and mastery of hand and power tools. A valid driver’s license and OSHA knowledge are essential for on-site leadership and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some trades coursework or experience preferred.
• Ability to apply basic math, fractions, proportions, scales to practical tasks.

• Self-motivated, organized, and able to communicate clearly on site.

Responsibilities

• Rough carpentry framing for new construction and renovations.
• Complete window/door replacements, bathroom/kitchen updates, repairs, inspections, and related tasks.
• Read and interpret plans, blueprints, sketches, or other drawings to determine materials and dimensions.
• Use hand/power tools to modify materials to required measurements.
• Install frames, trim, cabinets, floors, doors, and related finishes on interior and exterior.

We’re looking for a skilled, detail-driven Carpenter to join our team. You’ll take the lead on residential projects including new construction, renovations/additions, and repairs and. Responsibilities include interpreting plans, using hand and power tools, installing finishes, ensuring precise measurements, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Rough carpentry framing of new construction and renovations
• Complete projects such as window and door replacements, bathroom and kitchen renovations, leak repairs, inspections, hardware adjustments, basement renovations, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, hand sketches, shop drawings or other building plans to assist in determining dimensions and materials required for indicated projects
• Use power or hand tools to modify materials to measurements of project
• Install rough window and door frames, paneling, cabinets, hardwood floors, doors, moldings and other miscellaneous interior and exterior trims
• Use levels, rulers, framing squares, survey equipment or other necessary equipment to verify materials are installed within required tolerances and measurements
• Employee must conduct work in a clean manner consistent with John Joseph Companies expectations. All repair work will be completed as such that the jobsite will be left in the same or cleaner condition than what it was found
• Follow all safety rules to be compliant with OSHA and company standards

Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent education with some course work in skilled trades or other similar work or any combination of equivalent education or past work experience
• Ability to apply concepts such as simple math and fractions, ratios, proportions, scales, etc. to practical working situations
• Knowledge in the general practice of construction methods, tools, materials and equipment used in the construction of homes, commercial buildings or other structure types as may be encountered
• Self-motivated with the ability to think critically and plan, prioritize, and work effectively and efficiently under pressure and tight timelines
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications and other details or drawings as may be applicable
• Knowledgeable in OSHA standards and requirements
• Must be willing to travel and hold a valid driver’s license that meets our insurers qualifications for driving company owned vehicles
• Effective communication skills
• Handles multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $45.00 per hour
