Job summary

CMHA-CEI in Michigan seeks a Residential Services Assistant to support individuals with severe mental illness in a residential or supported living setting. Under supervision, you will assist with personal care, medication management, and daily living skills to promote independence.

Responsibilities include implementing skill acquisition, documenting progress, and helping residents engage with community activities. Team meetings and trainings are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma or GED.
  • Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training.
  • Must be able to understand written instructions; communicate well in writing and verbally.
  • Must read and follow medication charts.
  • Must be physically able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in personal care and treatment of individuals with severe mental illness in residential or supported living settings.
  • Implement skill acquisition and stages of change within each person’s plan of service.
  • Act as resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
  • Support residents with daily living skills, including medication management, personal care, cleanliness, meals and laundry.
  • Maintain required documentation and participate in community activities.
  • Attend mandatory team meetings and in-service trainings.
