Job summary

PBS Facility Service is seeking a Building Superintendent/Handyman to manage day-to-day maintenance, performing basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs across the building. You will develop schedules, maintain logs, and ensure safety throughout the property.

You will handle work orders, keep compliance records, and assist the property manager, including odd hours when required. This is an on-site role in New York.

Qualifications

• Must have strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform basic repairs in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to paint, plaster, sheetrock and carpentry work.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superior customer service skills.
• Detail oriented with scheduling skills.
• Proficient at safely using tools associated with the job.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety standards; valid S-95 Fire safety Certificate.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift heavy items.
• Must be able to maneuver in small spaces.
• Must be able to kneel and crouch or climb tall ladders.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day building maintenance.
• Create and implement schedules and checklists for preventative maintenance.
• Complete and update status of all work orders.
• Update notes on work order software when needed.
• Maintain fresh paint on interior surfaces.
• Maintain logs for compliance and inspections.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on interior and exterior items.
• Keep entrances, walkways and stairs clear of ice, snow, and debris.
• Maintain jobsite safety, health, and cleanliness.
• Ensure project documentation and reports are complete.
• Assist property manager with duties and coordinate repairs.
• Keep inventory and prepare purchase orders for supplies.
