Job summary

Centers for Independence in Milwaukee is seeking a direct care professional to support adults with severe and persistent mental illness in a group home setting. You will help residents learn daily living skills, monitor health, administer medications under supervision, and maintain a safe, homelike environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of relevant experience, strong communication, and the ability to follow DHS 83 guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English; Spanish is desirable.
• Must complete CBRF training as outlined by DHS 83.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents in learning independent living skills (laundry, cooking, budgeting).
• Administer medications under supervision and DHS 83 regulations.
• Document daily behavior and routines in the resident log.
• Report changes in client condition to supervisor, RN or physician.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment and follow DHS 83 rules.
• Train new staff and coordinate resident transportation when needed.
