Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with the substance-abusing population and people with disabilities.
• Must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two years (for addiction recovery).
• CRM-I (if eligible) or THW Certification and PSS certification for Residential Associate I; registration within 1 week and obtaining within 6 months.
• CRM-II and PSS certification or QMHA-I Certification for Residential Associate II (qualify for CS3 pay grade).
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Current Food Handler’s certification or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hiring.
• Valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one; insurable under policy.

Responsibilities

• Completes initial intakes as requested by Intake Coordinator and communicates details to health staff as needed.
• Collects client information through observation, interviews, and records review.
• Work closely with other staff as a member of a treatment team.
• Provide appropriate Client Care Interventions and communicate client needs to the team.
• Maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
• Assist in maintaining a healthy treatment milieu.
• Ensure client safety by bed checks and awareness of client locations.
• Maintain documentation in client files.
• Answer phones and complete filing.
• Transport residents to medical appointments, self-help groups, etc.
• Perform cleaning duties as assigned.
• Residential Associate II may have additional Team Lead responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager.

Description

The Residential Associate (all levels) works with clients and staff at the assigned BestCare residential program to provide support and assistance services, and to advocate for excellent patient care in accordance with BestCare’s policies, and all federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Familiarity with the substance-abusing population and people with disabilities
• For individuals recovering from the disease of addiction, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two (2) years at the time of hire

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• CRM-I (if eligible) or THW Certification and PSS certification for Residential Associate I required (CS2 pay grade), or registration for same within 1 week of hire and eligibility/commitment to obtain within six (6) months
• CRM-II and PSS certification or QMHA-I Certification for Residential Associate II required (to qualify for CS3 pay grade)
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 3 months
• Current Food Handler’s certification or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hiring
• Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire, and be insurable under the organization’s auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations)

PREFERRED:

• Previous training, knowledge, or experience demonstrating competence in the treatment of the disease of addiction is preferred
• Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Completes initial intakes as requested by Intake Coordinator, in accordance with BestCare’s Client Intake Process, and communicates pertinent details from intake prior to health screening to medical/nursing staff when necessary;
2. Collects client information through observation, interviews, and records review in an accurate and timely manner as appropriate to the client’s needs;
3. Work closely with other staff as a member of a treatment team;
4. Provides appropriate Client Care Interventions, as needed, and communicates the clients’ choices, concerns, and special needs to the other members of the treatment team;
5. Maintains cleanliness of all work areas;
6. Works with the treatment team to maintain a healthy treatment milieu;
7. Ensures the safety of clients by making rounds for bed checks and being aware of client locations at all times;
8. Upholds Professional Responsibility and Ethics policies and practices;
9. Maintains accurate and confidential documentation in client files;
10. Answers phones and completes filing;
11. Transports residents to medical appointments, self-help groups, etc.;
12. Performs cleaning duties as assigned;
13. Residential Associate II may have additional Team Lead responsibilities;
14. Other related duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager.
