Job summary

The Guild for Human Services in Bedford, MA seeks a dedicated residential staff member to support individuals with intellectual disabilities. You will help implement personalized residential plans, supervise daily activities, and assist with community participation.

Responsibilities include medication administration, 1:1 supervision when needed, and collaboration with the team to maintain a safe living environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree preferred; MAP certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Must meet CORI background requirements.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive living environment for individuals at the residence.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of residents' ISP/IEP and daily activity schedules.
  • Support residents in community activities and outings.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and individualized behavior plans.
  • Provide supervision and 1:1 care as needed, including during transport.
  • Administer and document medications in accordance with MAP.
  • Attend meetings related to residents and program planning.
  • Engage in de-escalation strategies to ensure resident safety.

Summary:To assist the Residential Manager (or Lead/Assistant Residential Manager) in the development and implementation of a comprehensive residential program for each of their assigned individuals
Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of a team to maintain a clean, safe, positive living environment for each individual who lives at the residence including completing laundry and cleaning assignments
  • Assist in the development and implementation of each individual’s residential ISP/IEP and daily activity schedule.
  • Attend and support individuals participating in all community experiences.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and individual behavior support plans for individuals who live in the home.
  • Provide supervision of all individuals while under his/her care.
  • Administer and record individuals’ medications, in compliance with MAP.
  • Provide direct supervision and care to individuals, including 1:1 responsibilities at all times and location.
  • Participate in any meetings pertaining to assigned individuals or program planning, as directed.
  • Engage in de-escalation of individuals.
Essential Job Functions
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including inclement weather
  • Demonstrated evidence of mature judgment, good interpersonal skills, a desire to enrich individuals' lives and a willingness to learn
  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job
  • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportations of individuals
  • Must be able to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI)
  • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the residence
RequirementsQualifications:
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree is preferred; prior experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background requirements
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification or the ability to obtain MAP certification within the first 90 days of employment
