Job summary

Harris Central Appraisal District is seeking an entry-level appraiser to assist the Chief Appraiser by inspecting and recording property characteristics across residential and commercial properties. The role blends fieldwork with office tasks and customer meetings to resolve value disputes and support the district's mission.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, with a preferred focus in Accounting, Finance, or Real Estate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Major in Accounting, Finance or Real Estate preferred.
• One year of work experience preferred, especially in real estate and appraisal.
• Knowledge of Texas Property Tax Code and taxation rules.
• Must enroll in TDLR courses and work toward licensure (Level III within 3 years, RPAL within 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Provide property inspection and measurement in the field.
• Check field appraisal records for accuracy and completeness.
• Inspect and measure assigned properties completely and accurately.
• Utilize aerial photography to verify property improvements.
• Represent the Chief Appraiser in informal meetings with property owners and their representatives.
