Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time Residential Aide for the Homewards South site in Grand Rapids. You will provide personal care, assist with daily activities, monitor health, and support residents in a group foster home setting.

You will work evenings (3 p.m. – 11 p.m.), Saturdays and Sundays, 8 hours weekly, at SITE - Homewards South. A high school diploma and basic life support/first aid certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CRT-BLS (AHA) – 30 days required, or
• CRT-First Aid (AHA) – 30 days required.

Responsibilities

• Assists and instructs residents with ADLs and personal care according to care guidelines.
• Monitors health and reports signs of illness to supervisor or medical staff.
• Dispenses and charts medication; administers tube feedings and other medical tasks under RN supervision.
• Transports residents to appointments and events; develops monthly calendar of community events.
• Prepares meals per dietary guidelines and resident care plans; involves residents when appropriate.
• Maintains a clean foster home environment and handles daily laundry with resident participation.

Provides personal care assistance, instruction, and promotes independence and quality of life for residents. The Residential Aide also performs a variety of household tasks essential to the operation and cleanliness of the group home.

Essential Functions

• Assists and instructs residents with ADL’s and personal care, according to each resident’s care guidelines.
• Monitors the health of residents and reports any signs of residents’ illness to the supervisor or designated medical staff. Attends staff meetings, resident care conferences, and in-service education programs as assigned.
• Dispenses and charts medication according to each resident’s medication chart. Administers tube feedings, dressing changes, and assists with other medical care under RN supervision/direction as needed.
• Transports residents in company vehicles to community appointments and recreational events as assigned, and to on site day activity. At times will research and develop a monthly calendar of community events.
• Prepares meals according to dietary menu and resident dietary guidelines, inviting resident participation, as appropriate, according to resident care plans and goals and swallowing guidelines.
• Maintains a clean orderly foster home environment, does daily laundry and invites resident participation in these activities, as appropriate, according to resident care plans and goals.
• Completes daily documentation on the level of resident care provided, on activities, on goals addressed, on health status, and on any behavior programming. Demonstrates knowledge of safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 30 Days required Or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 30 Days required
• CRT-First Aid - AHA American Heart Association 30 Days required

Preferred

• 1 year of relevant experience in a rehabilitation or health care setting
• LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan
• LIC-Chauffeur License - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days
