Job summary

Friendship Place in Washington, DC seeks a Residential Aide for Valley Place to provide 24/7 on-site support, ensuring a safe, healthy environment and assisting residents transitioning from homelessness.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years of shelter experience, and First Aid/CPR/AED certification. You will collaborate with case managers, distribute resources, and participate in trainings to foster residents’ independence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of residential or shelter experience preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain will be required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Provide supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Deliver face-to-face contacts with participants and coordinate with case managers.
• Demonstrate empathy and flexibility in responding to participants' needs.
• Engage participants to assess needs, preferences, and strengths.
• Monitor premises to ensure safety and security of residents.
• Report incidents and support program policies and goals.
• Attend professional trainings and conferences.
• Assist with intake procedures and site-based programming.
