Job description

The Residential Aide will be the primary connection between the operations staff and the clients. The residential aide will spend a large amount of time with the residents. They will spend this time helping clients who need more hands-on assistance. They will also provide insight into the current atmosphere in the facility and what the current client complaints or recommendations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Document all residents, staff, and visitors entering and exiting the building; complete census forms, report all incidents, and log all events in the Facility Logbook.
  • Facilitate new resident admissions and move‑outs.
  • Record all daily census reports in the CARES system.
  • Generate and submit nightly rosters to funding sources.
  • File all paperwork relating to shift coverage.
  • Provide a professional greeting to all visitors and callers.
  • Perform the day‑to‑day monitoring of the residents’ on‑site activities
  • Perform hourly inspections of the facility and immediate neighbourhood, and document/report any incidents
  • Assist in the planning and organization of recreational activities, events, and outings.
  • Wake the clients as needed, provide clothing and personal care items to clients.
  • Ensure that the clients are out of the dormitories according to policies and procedures.
  • Remind clients of their daily schedules and assist clients with their daily living skills.
  • Process new client intake information and bed assignment, maintain the daily census records, and provide DHS with daily census figures.
  • Secure the clients’ personal property and maintain an inventory of the client’s belongings.
  • Observe the behavior of clients, reporting any unusual behavior to the case management and clinical staff.
  • Oversee the shelter at night and respond to any requests from the clients who are awake.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Aides/Case Managers in providing crisis intervention in an emergency.
  • Complete electronic shift summaries and incident reports.
  • Assist in the Cafeteria with meals being served to clients at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Residential Aide Supervisor or other supervisory staff.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience working with homeless mentally ill adults or other special needs populations.
  • Excellent oral, writing, and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially e‑mail, Word, and Excel; computer literate.
  • Bilingual or multilingual a plus.
POSITION SCOPE

Responsible for providing safety and general support to assigned programs in various departments or divisions.

Problems encountered by the incumbent are straightforward and can usually be resolved using common sense or through supervisory guidance.

KNOWLEDGE

Job duties require a general familiarity with 163‑IC Inc programs, services, and operations.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Makes routine, relatively low‑cost expenditures, as delegated by supervisor.

CONTACTS

The incumbent works primarily with the Shelter Director; external contacts are frequent and limited in scope.
