Job summary

Adams and Associates seeks a Residential Advisor for the Brunswick Job Corps Center to guide and mentor students in dormitory living, helping them build positive relationships and stay focused on their goals.

You will patrol the dorms, maintain safety, lead group sessions, and keep records while supporting career development standards and upholding Job Corps policies. This role requires heart, patience, and dedication to student success.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of Job Corps or related program experience.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform related physical tasks.
  • Willingness to work overtime with regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and mentor students to build a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living.
  • Patrol dormitories and Center to ensure safety and proper behavior of students.
  • Prepare daily operations reports and maintain student files with accurate notes.
  • Model standards, support career development, and enforce Job Corps policies.

In this role, you'll be on the front line of student life — shaping daily behavior, modeling positive leadership, and creating the kind of safe, encouraging living environment where achievement becomes possible.What You'll DoGuide & Mentor StudentsProvide guidance that helps students build a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and accomplish their goals. Deliver guidance, counseling, group sessions, and independent living skills; determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselors; and assist in unit activities, including unit government.Ensure a Safe, Structured EnvironmentPatrol and monitor dormitories and the Center as required, ensuring the safety and proper behavior of students and resolving potential or occurring problems. Direct students and assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory, and recommend or requisition supplies to meet dorm living and student safety needs.Maintain Records & ReportingPrepare the daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence relating to students. Maintain dormitory and individual student files — ensuring they're complete, updated, and fully documented — and enter student case notes in the Center information system.Model Standards & Support SuccessParticipate in the career development services system by ensuring a safe living environment and modeling positive peer leadership. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
