Job summary

Volunteers of America in Edison, NJ seeks a Residential Counselor to provide wellness-focused case management and direct resident support. Responsibilities include skill development, counseling, transportation, crisis intervention, and assisting with ADLs.

The role requires supervision of residents, collaboration with the treatment team, and participation in habilitation planning and assessments. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• On-site supervision/support including teaching, behavioral modeling, and ADLs assistance.
• Communicating observations to program manager, RN, and treatment team.
• Supervising and organizing recreational and social activities for residents.
• Providing transportation assistance.
• Assisting residents in self-administration of medication.
• Residential counseling and crisis intervention services.
• Participating in development of individual habilitation plan and assessments.
• Participating in individual service coordination activities.
• Documenting observations and services in progress notes.

Education

Bachelor's degree in mental health/related

RN license

LPN license + 2 years related experience

High school diploma + 4 years related experience

Year of related work if 4-year degree does not meet requirements
