Senior Lifestyle Corporation in Arlington, VA seeks a Community Relations Director to lead the sales and marketing department at the community. You will hire and guide staff, assess resident suitability, coordinate orientation, and maintain strong ties with families and healthcare providers.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years’ experience with seniors, and relevant certifications; a proactive leader with excellent communication is desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 1–2 years related experience or equivalent.
• Area of Study: Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related field
• 3+ years of experience with seniors and dementia care, including leading programs
• Licenses/certifications: Licensed social worker, activities director, certified therapy recreation specialist, dementia practitioner
• Language: English fluency to perform duties

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, discipline, and terminate departmental employees per policy.

The Community Relations Director will lead the sales and marketing department at the community.

Job Description

• In consultation with the Executive Director, hire, train, discipline, and terminate departmental employees in accordance with Senior Lifestyle Corporation human resources Policy.
• Monitor the “outside care providers” working at the community.
• Assess prospective residents for appropriateness of residency.
• Coordinate New Resident Orientation processes to ensure a smooth transition and appropriate socialization activities.
• Conduct family conferences to determine the amount of support services required to meet the resident’s needs.
• Respond to emergencies when on site to assess situation and alert medical help when necessary.
• Address and follow-up on all resident Concern, Incident, and Accident Reports in a timely manner.
• Contact family members during times of emergency and other concern issues.
• Communicate on a regular basis with health care providers to monitor and assess health conditions, safety issues, and needs of all residents.
• Communicate with other staff members concerning resident changes and building operation issues.
• Prepare and monitor compliance with annual budget.
• Develop and maintain a positive image with local community. May attend social and civic affairs.
• Maintain confidentiality of business policies & procedures and with residents’ and potential residents’ information.
• Ensure that all department employees adhere to the proper grooming and uniform policy.
• Participate in Manager On-Duty program.
• Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
• Strive to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of Senior Lifestyle Corporation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:

Level of Formal Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Area of Study: Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related field

Years of Experience: 3+ years

Type of Experience: 3+ years of working with seniors and individuals with dementia including leading programs, handling complex behavioral issues, developing and evaluating social and recreational programs, and the coordination of services

Special Certifications: : Licensed social worker, activities director certification, certified therapeutic recreation specialist, certified dementia practitioner.

Language Skills: Acceptable fluency in English in order to perform job duties and speak, read, write, and communicate with all others.
