Job description

Description

NAYA Family Center is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-centered Resident Services Coordinator to join our Housing and Stabilization Services team. This role supports residents living in affordable housing communities by helping them access resources, strengthen community connections, and maintain long-term housing stability. As a Resident Services Coordinator, you'll build meaningful relationships with residents, meet people where they are, and connect youth, families, and Elders to services that support their goals and well-being. You'll spend time in affordable housing communities throughout Portland, partnering with property management, community organizations, and NAYA programs to create welcoming, culturally responsive spaces where residents can thrive.

NAYA offers an exceptional benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) with up to 6% match, 16 paid holidays, and sick and vacation accrual that increases with tenure. This is a full-time position with general working hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Some schedule flexibility is available with supervisor approval, and occasional evenings and weekends may be required. This position is primarily community-based and works on-site at affordable housing properties throughout the Portland area.

Pay for this position starts at $26-$27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Who You Are
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of Native American history and experience working within diverse populations, including urban and reservation Native American communities.
  • You believe that stable housing is the foundation for healthy families and strong communities, and you're passionate about helping people access the resources they need to succeed.
  • You have experience working with individuals or families who have experienced homelessness, housing instability, or other barriers to stability and understand the importance of trauma-informed, strengths-based services.
  • You enjoy building authentic relationships and creating welcoming environments where residents feel heard, respected, and connected.
  • You are knowledgeable about local community resources, housing services, emergency assistance programs, and systems that support low-income families and communities.
  • You communicate with empathy, professionalism, and cultural humility while navigating challenging situations with sound judgment and compassion.
  • You are organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to maintain accurate documentation and data in accordance with program and funding requirements.
  • You enjoy planning and facilitating community-building activities that promote wellness, youth engagement, cultural connection, and neighbor relationships.
  • You are comfortable working collaboratively with property managers, maintenance staff, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • You have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems, email, and web-based research.
What You'll Do
  • Welcome new residents and introduce them to resident services, NAYA programs, and community resources during their first weeks of tenancy.
  • Build trusting relationships with residents to understand their goals, identify service needs, and connect them with appropriate resources and supports.
  • Provide housing stabilization services that help residents maintain safe, stable housing and reduce the risk of eviction.
  • Partner closely with property management while maintaining appropriate boundaries between property management and resident services.
  • Connect residents to NAYA's wraparound services and community resources that support housing stability, health, education, employment, and family well-being.
  • Plan and coordinate on-site activities and events that strengthen community, promote wellness, encourage youth engagement, and celebrate Native culture and traditions.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation, participant records, and required data reporting in compliance with funding and contract requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, collaborate with community partners, and advocate for residents to remove barriers to long-term stability.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach, assess resident needs, and respond appropriately to concerns while using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Contribute as an active member of the Housing and Stabilization Services team while supporting cross-department collaboration and NAYA's mission to serve Urban Native youth and families.

NAYA is committed to building a work environment that respects and inspires every community member. Our mission is to serve Urban Native youth and families, so we strongly encourage members of the Native community to apply. We encourage applications from members of other historically marginalized groups as well, including women, people of color, those with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those who have served in the military.
