Barkan Management Company is seeking a qualified Resident Services Associate for a residential community in West Hartford, CT. You will coordinate supportive services to help residents maintain independence and age in place.

Reporting to the Property Manager, you will assess needs, refer to community resources, organize programs, and document activities in HUD-compliant records. A social work or psychology background is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology is preferred.
  • At least two years of social service experience with elderly/disabled populations.
  • MS Office proficiency is required.
  • HUD regulations knowledge is a plus.

Responsabilités

  • Coordinate supportive services for residents, focusing on helping older adults maintain independence.
  • Assess residents’ needs and provide appropriate referrals and follow-up support.
  • Connect residents with transportation, meals, home health services, counseling, and healthcare resources.
  • Build partnerships with community agencies and social service organizations to expand resident support options.
  • Organize educational programs, wellness initiatives, social activities, and community events for residents.
  • Assist with care planning and transitions to higher levels of care when necessary.
  • Maintain confidential resident service records and HUD-compliant documentation.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports for owners, management, and HUD compliance.
  • Communicate regularly with residents via newsletters, flyers, calendars, and meetings.
  • Utilize industry software to document services and track resident needs.

Requirements

We are looking for a qualified, motivated, and experienced Resident Services Associate for a residential community located in[West Hartford, CT].[Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm].

The Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) is responsible for assisting tenants to identify services and benefits that will enable tenants to maintain independence. The RSC works in conjunction with the Property Manager and always maintains a mutually respectful, collaborative relationship. The objective of the RSC position is to work from an empowerment model toward the goal of self-actualization of the residents. The RSC must fulfill many roles to meet this goal including educator, community builder, advocate, investigator, liaison, and service facilitator.

What you’ll do:
  • Coordinate supportive services for residents, with a focus on helping older adults maintain independence and successfully age in place.
  • Assess residents’ psychological, physical, social, and service needs and provide appropriate referrals and follow-up support.
  • Connect residents with community resources and entitlement programs, including transportation, meals, home health services, counseling, financial assistance, and healthcare resources.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community agencies, healthcare providers, and social service organizations to expand resident support options.
  • Organize educational programs, wellness initiatives, social activities, and community events for residents.
  • Assist residents and families with care planning and transitions to higher levels of care, including nursing home placement when necessary.
  • Support property management by addressing tenant concerns, assisting with conflict resolution, and responding to unusual resident behavior or issues identified during inspections and recertifications.
  • Maintain confidential resident service records, case notes, releases, and documentation in compliance with HUD and company requirements.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports and maintain accurate documentation for owners, management, and HUD compliance.
  • Communicate regularly with residents through newsletters, flyers, calendars, and meetings.
  • Utilize AASC and other industry software to document services, track resident needs, and manage reporting requirements.
  • Attend required trainings and support additional administrative or resident service duties as assigned by management.
What we’re looking for:
  • A Bachelor of Social Work or degree in Psychology or Counseling is preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience in social service delivery with an elderly and/or disabled population.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of supportive services and various resources that will be required to perform the duties of an RSC successfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate, organize, problem-solve, and provide results for the residents served.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of HUD regulations is a plus.
