RESIDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR, BLUE RIDGE ESTATES - RICHMOND, VA
The Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) develops and coordinates support services for residents. The RSC will ensure resident and community success through close work with property management, building and sustaining relationships with local and regional partners, planning programs and other on-site opportunities for residents, and working one-on-one with residents to assist them in achieving their goals and maintaining housing stability.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and coordinating resident referrals and resources, recommending solutions to resolve issues impacting their lives, and referring them to community services and entitlement programs.
- Building relationships with residents to understand their aspirations and connecting them with local resources.
- Creating partnerships with local organizations to implement community engagement initiatives.
- Assisting elders, at-risk individuals, and residents with disabilities to maintain independence through collaboration with wellness and healthcare programs.
- Leading support for housing stabilization issues like rent payments, lease violations, and related concerns.
- Collaborating with property management to develop program budgets aligned with resident needs and financial obligations.
- Maintaining regular outreach and communication with residents via assessments, newsletters, flyers, and personal contact.
- Using Beacon’s data systems to document services and outcomes.
- Monitoring the Community Engagement budget.
- Processing Reasonable Accommodation requests for residents with disabilities.
- Attending weekly meetings with property management.
- Promoting diversity and inclusion, encouraging candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with older adults, health, wellness, and social determinants of health.
- Experience with youth, families, workforce development, and education programs.
- Cultural competency and ability to respond appropriately to diverse residents.
- Strong relationship-building skills with residents, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Data collection, tracking, and analysis skills.
- Proficiency with technology and willingness to learn new tools.
- Timeliness, professionalism, and excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Yardi, FamilyMetrics, and knowledge of housing policies are a plus.
- Availability to work some weekends and evenings.
- Bilingual abilities in English and a community's dominant language (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Russian) are a plus.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public health, or related field, or 3-5 years’ relevant experience in housing or social services.
