Resident Service Coordinator

Hours

Part‑time – 14 hours per week

Pay

$15‑$17 per hour, depending on experience

Purpose

To identify the social, emotional, employment, educational, and medically related needs of all residents on an individual and group basis and provide services to meet those needs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in human services or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years experience serving low‑income individuals, families, seniors, and/or persons with disabilities or related populations.

General Duties

• Service Development, Linkage, and Coordination: Identify, distribute information about, and link residents to community services that improve housing stability, increase self‑sufficiency, and build safe, supportive communities.
• Conduct assessments to determine individual and group level resident goals, interests, and needs.
• Create a directory of local social service agencies to facilitate residents’ access to resources, programs, and services.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding resident information and services provided.
• Community Building: Work with residents to develop fellowship and community using facilitation skills; develop resident associations, newsletters, welcoming committees, orientation packages, and support groups.
• Assist residents in securing and/or creating social, community‑oriented programming that meets recreational, health, educational and spiritual needs.
• Outreach and Advocacy: Raise awareness among local providers of resident needs and promote partnerships; refer residents for case management; ensure follow‑up on referrals.
• Help residents apply for fair hearings when eligible for denied services.
• Market the housing property through community networking contacts.
• Record Keeping and Other Considerations: Maintain resident files documenting conversations, referrals, refusals, acceptance, and progress; complete reports on services provided, outcomes, and satisfaction; develop understanding of housing rules, accommodations, lease issues; assume additional responsibilities as requested.

Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of community support services for family and/or senior housing developments and eligibility requirements.
• Experience working with older persons and/or families in direct service role, especially in advocacy, self‑sufficiency, service negotiation, and community building.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data‑management tools.
• Ability to establish trusting relationships with residents individually and in groups.
• Strong listening skills; help residents define problems, identify solutions, and resources.
• Ability to seek resident input, research service vendors, evaluate services, and adjust as needed.
• Capacity for non‑judgmental counseling or advocacy to empower residents’ decisions and self‑esteem.
• Skill to develop community activities that build bridges and foster resident self‑sufficiency.
• Effective planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting programs and policies.
