Job summary

The Northwest Regional Re-entry Center in Portland, OR is seeking a Re-Entry Specialist, Security (Community Corrections) to supervise residents 24/7 and enforce a structured, secure environment. The role emphasizes accountability with dignity, including gender-specific searches and observed testing.

Responsibilities include monitoring behavior, coordinating with agencies, managing passes, and maintaining incident logs, all while upholding safety and compliance in a residential setting.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; advanced degree preferred in related fields.
  • Experience: Re-entry, corrections, law enforcement, security, residential living, or social services preferred.
  • Must maintain vigilance and de-escalate conflicts while upholding boundaries.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with residents, staff, visitors, and agencies.
  • Attention to detail in documentation, searches, and protocol compliance.
  • Willingness to learn, adaptable to changing protocols, and team-oriented.
  • Learn and operate automated systems and monitoring devices.
  • Valid Driver's License with favorable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour supervision and monitoring of residents in the facility and during approved community activities.
  • Maintain a secure and orderly environment through patrols, headcounts, and searches of rooms and belongings.
  • Conduct same-gender pat-down searches and observed urine collection testing.
  • Control and dispense resident medications and self-carry meds.
  • Track accountability during approved absences using automated systems; document communications.
  • Monitor GPS monitoring reports for residents in the community and home confinement.
  • Maintain facility sanitation and oversee visitor procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies swiftly and appropriately.
  • Serve as liaison with law enforcement and related agencies.
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and act as information center for resident activities.
