Job summary

The Greater Dayton School is seeking a mission-driven Resident Principal to grow into a long-term leadership role in our expanding private PreK–8 program serving under-resourced students in Southwest Ohio. This residency requires relocation to the Greater Dayton area and offers a clear pathway to an Assistant Principal or Principal position upon successful completion.

This is not an entry-level role; we seek experienced educational leaders who will partner with the Founding Principal to drive

Qualifications

• Experience as a principal, AP, instructional coach, dean, or equivalent administrator.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.
• Proven record of driving school-level outcomes for students from low-income backgrounds.
• Familiarity with mastery-based learning models, adaptive learning technology, or AI tutors.
• Ohio principal licensure preferred; GDS has licensure flexibility for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Observe, evaluate, and develop teachers; drive mastery-based instruction schoolwide.
• Lead initiatives that improve student behavior, engagement, and belonging.
• Own one or more KPIs (MAP growth, attendance, behavior) and lead responses.
• Directly supervise and develop staff through coaching and accountability.
• Champion responsible integration of edtech (including AI tutors).
• Build trust with families and involve them as partners in growth.
• Engage in a 1–3 year residency with coaching and a pathway to Managing Principal.
