Job summary

Citadel Healthcare in Rockford, IL is seeking a Cook to join our team. The cook prepares and serves resident meals with strict safety and nutrition guidelines, while treating residents with respect.

You will review menus, ensure correct diets, coordinate meal service, and work with the culinary director to implement changes. A High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of hospital or skilled nursing cooking experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must be able to read recipes and convert ingredients to different serving sizes.
• Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspects special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
• Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms and reports, and submits to management.
• Coordinates meal service with other departments as necessary.
• Works with the facility’s culinary director and implements recommended changes.
• Ensures dietary procedures follow established policies.
• Maintains menus and files according to procedures.
• Establishes food production lines to ensure meals are prepared on time.
• Processes diet changes and new diets with nursing and dietary staff.
