Job summary

SNF Rehab & Healthcare in New Jersey is seeking an Activities Director to lead activity programs in a nursing facility. You will plan and supervise recreation initiatives, tailor plans to residents’ needs, and work with staff to promote meaningful engagement.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to document progress. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and 401K, plus PTO. Salary ranges from $52,000 to $58,000 per year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required for consideration.
• Certification in accordance with New Jersey regulations is required.
• Associate degree in recreation is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement the recreation program aligned with resident needs.
• Develop an individualized recreation plan based on interests and abilities.
• Document progress and maintain records to inform future planning.
• Contribute to resident care planning and maintain volunteer records.
• Create a weekly schedule of activities including varied programs.
• Ensure programs meet government documentation standards and safety rules.
• Provide resources for residents' special interests and independent activities.
• Evaluate program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative data.
• Collaborate with administration and staff; orient new team members.
• Participate in facility committees and coordinate with treatment plans.
• Engage families and community resources to support activities.
• Foster community connections and educate community members about residents.
• Protect resident safety and ensure compliance with fire, health, and sanitation codes.
• Assist in budget preparation for the recreation department.
• Establish and maintain a robust volunteer program with screening and training.
• Support professional development and stay updated on regulations.
• Serve as a resource to staff and community organizations.
• Maintain confidentiality of residents and records.
• Ensure high-quality service with a compassionate atmosphere.
