Job summary

Utah Tech University is seeking a full-time Residence Life Coordinator to oversee day-to-day operations for Campus View Suites 1, University Inn, and Family Student Housing. You will help develop a positive student housing environment and coordinate conduct processes for about 1,600 residents.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and two years in Residence Life or related fields, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Plan and implement programs for personal growth and development; oversee themed communities.
• Use StarRez for daily duties, updating records, forms, and reports.
• Participate in on-call duty coverage one week in six weeks.

Position Announcement

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation and programsof Campus View Suites 1, averaging 352 residents, the UniversityInn, averaging 44 residents, and Family Student Housing, averaging21 apartments. This involves overseeing development of a communityand educational environment that encourages student engagement,positive relationships, and student success. In addition totraditional residence life functions and roles, this position willhave specific responsibilities regarding student conduct andstudent staff development across all on campus residentialcommunities. This position is required to live in providedon-campus housing within Campus View Suites 1. Information aboutHousing and Resident Life can be found online at https://housing.utahtech.edu/.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the day-to-day resident life operations and programsof Campus View Suites 1, the University Inn, and Family StudentHousing apartments.


• Assist in the management and facilitation of the studentconduct process by implementing and enforcing university anddepartmental rules and regulations, as well as adjudicating minorstudent conduct cases, across all residence halls (approximately1,600 residents) as assigned by the Assistant Director andDirector.


• Plan and organize for summer camps and conferences, includingoccupancy management in coordination with campus partners, staffselection and training, cleaning checks, key preparation andmanagement, and invoicing.


• Oversee the development of a community and educationalenvironment that encourages student engagement, positiverelationships, and student success.


• Respond to emergency situations and assist in resolvingresident and parent concerns, roommate conflict, etc.


• Plan and implement active educational, social and culturalprograms for the personal growth and development of residents.Plan, propose, implement and assess Themed Communities, asdetermined by the department’s strategic plan.


• Utilize StarRez (student housing management software) whenperforming daily responsibilities, including updating student andbuilding information, processing forms, and creating reports.


• Participate in on-call duty coverage, one week out of every sixweeks, to respond to on-campus student housing incidents andstudent crisis situations.


• Monitor and communicate concerns related to facilities,including safety and security, cleaning service, maintenance andkeys. Provide supervision and assistance during check-in/check-outperiods.


• Plan, organize, and assist in the facilitation of thecentralized process for resident assistant and resident managerrecruitment, selection, placement and training.


• Supervise 9 Resident Assistants and 2 Assistant ResidentManagers.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Any combination of relevanteducation and experience may be substituted for the educationalrequirement on a year-for-year basis. Master’s degreepreferred.


• Two years’ experience working in Residence Life, StudentInvolvement, or related fields during graduate or undergraduatecareer required. Experience advising a student group preferred.The total qualifications required are based on a combination ofeducation and work experience. Any experience used to meet theeducation requirement cannot also be used to meet the workexperience requirement.


• Knowledge of Student Development and Student Involvementtheories required; knowledge and experience with Living LearningCommunities preferred.


• Computer proficiency, with good knowledge of Microsoft Officesuite (particularly Word and Outlook) required; knowledge ofBanner, StarRez and Maxient systems preferred.


• Strong organizational skills, with ability to respond to, andconcentrate on, multiple projects simultaneously.


• Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills required,with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individualsand campus departments in establishing and maintaining effectiveand positive relationships.


• Outgoing personality, with a history of dependability,reliability, and initiative.

Position Details, Compensation and Benefits

Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of$44,000 with rent and utility free two-bedroom and one bathapartment provided. Desired start date of November 2026.
