Job summary

Good Samaritan is seeking an Activities Assistant at the George, IA facility to enhance residents' quality of life through meaningful activities, both one-on-one and in groups. You will manage the monthly activity calendar, gather input from residents, and support activities such as music, crafts, and spiritual sessions; supervision will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in social services or creative activities preferred; geriatrics knowledge.
• Preferred CNA certification or enrollment in a healthcare-related program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required based on location; CPR training may be required within six months of hire.
• May require Sanford driving policy adherence including motor vehicle report and valid license.

Responsibilities

• Strives to improve the quality of life for residents by providing meaningful activities one-on-one or in groups.
• Administers the monthly activity calendar.
• Elicits residents' input into activity planning and keeps activities organized and upbeat across state-approved activities (music, crafts, spiritual activities).
• Assists with activities appropriate for residents and supports operations including basic nursing tasks and transporting residents.
• Maintains accurate documentation (MDS/EPIC) and demonstrates communication and leadership within supervision.
