Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Cook to prepare meals per approved menus and supervise dietary staff when the Dining Services Director is absent. The role emphasizes safe food handling, temperature monitoring, and adherence to dietary needs of residents.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean kitchen, assisting in training staff, and ensuring meal service readiness across shifts, with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in dining services
• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or be willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire
• Basic understanding of food service operations and safety
• Ability to read, write and perform simple calculations
• Ability to learn quickly and follow directions
• Experience in cooking and estimating quantities of food

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes
• Maintain clean and orderly work area including floors
• Follow safety practices and monitor temperatures
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Directors
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings
• Record temperatures and ensure proper cooling, storage and dating of leftovers
• Assist in training new dietary employees
• Support meal service readiness for each shift
