Job summary

Freedom Support Services in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a part-time Resident in Counseling to provide face-to-face and/or telehealth counseling to individuals, groups, and families with a focus on trauma, children, couples, and Christian counseling.

The role offers flexible hours with potential transition to full-time. Benefits include medical and dental options upon full-time status, supervision toward licensure, and hybrid/remote work options.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-time clinical or educational experience.
  • 1+ year experience with children/adolescents, couples/families, Christian counseling and/or trauma.
  • Eligible for Virginia residency for LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure track.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues across ages (trauma, anxiety, parenting, mood disorders).
  • Commitment to working with diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of cognitive/behavioral therapy concepts and current counseling approaches.
  • This position is for Christiansburg office with in-person, virtual or hybrid options.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional appearance/attitude in face-to-face and social media interactions.
  • Complete intake assessments including MSE, Biopsychosocial, PHQ-9, GAD, CSSRS.
  • Maintain an average of 15 billable hours per week.
  • Offer a minimum of 3 evening appointments each week.
  • Create and carry out treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
  • Communicate with referral sources and Primary Care Physicians after intake.
  • Complete progress notes within 24 hours of service.
  • Complete timesheets daily reflecting billable hours.
  • Maintain client charts and complete documentation.
  • Complete discharge summaries as required by insurance.
  • Develop rapport to facilitate healthy professional relationships.
  • Demonstrate growth toward independent licensure.
  • Track residency progress as required by state.
  • Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment.

Job Summary

We are looking to add a part-time Resident in Counseling to our growing team.This position is part-time, with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on individual performance and organizational needs. Employees who transition to full-time status are eligible for medical and dental insurancebenefits.Thisposition provides face to face and/or telehealth counseling to individuals, groups, adults, adolescents, and/or families with a primary focus onONEof the following areas:

  • Children & Adolescents (ages 4-17)
  • Couples and/or Families
  • Trauma
  • Christian Counseling

Residents must have a strong interest,passionandwillingness toin the area ofchoice and will be provided with training toimmediatelybegin expanding their skills in the specialty area.

Freedom Support cliniciansare responsible formaintainingyour caseload and completing all required documentation as governed by insurance and company policy.

This position is best suited for a counselor who is humble, mature, self-directed, organized, professional, friendly, practices self-care and empathetic to client needs. Flexible schedule & ability to set your own hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete discharge summaries as required by insurance.
  • Develop rapport with clientsin order tofacilitatea healthy professional relationship.
  • Demonstrate growth in clinical competencies leading to independent licensure
  • Accurately track progress towards residency as required by the state.
  • Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree in Professional Counselingor related field from a CACREP Accredited Program (LPC, LPCC, CSW, LPA, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).
  • 3+ years of full-time work experience in a clinical setting and/or educational setting
  • 1+ year experience working with children/adolescents, couples & families, Christiancounselingand/or trauma
  • Eligible for Residency in Virginia for LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure track
  • Knowledge and clinical experience with children, teens, and/or adults with mental health issues (trauma, anxiety, transitional issues, parenting, depression, and mooddisordersetc.)
  • Knowledge, clinical experience, and willingness to work with people from diverse communities related to race/ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, low socioeconomic status, ability, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of counseling services.
  • Must have knowledge of strategies for examining,applyingand evaluating cognitive/behavioral therapy concepts.Additionalskillsrequiredinclude thorough knowledge of the clinical aspects of the mental health field.
  • This position is forChristiansburgoffice,withoptions for in-person, virtual only or a hybrid work schedule.
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is $32 per billable hour. Payment is an hourly rate per billable hour. Clinical supervision provided towards licensure in Virginia.
