Job summary

Freedom Support Services seeks a part-time Resident in Counseling to join our clinician-centered team in Blacksburg, VA. The role offers face-to-face, telehealth, or hybrid options with flexible hours and potential transition to full-time.

You will provide counseling to individuals, families, and groups with focus areas including trauma, children/adolescents, and Christian counseling. The position requires a CACREP-accredited master’s degree and Virginia licensure track eligibility; candidates

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from a CACREP Accredited Program.
• 3+ years of full-time work experience in a clinical/educational setting.
• 1+ year experience working with children/adolescents, couples & families, Christian counseling and/or trauma.
• Eligible for Residency in Virginia for LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure track.
• Knowledge and clinical experience with diverse communities related to race/ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.
• Knowledge of current theoretical approaches to counseling and CBT concepts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in face-to-face interactions as well as on social media.
• Complete intake assessments including MSE, PHQ-9, GAD, and risk assessments.
• Maintain an average of 15 billable hours per week.
• Offer a minimum of 3 evening appointments each week.
• Create and carry out treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
• Communicate with referral sources and Primary Care Physicians after intake.
• Complete progress notes within 24 hours of time of service.
• Maintain client charts with complete and correct documentation.
• Complete discharge summaries as required by insurance.

Job Summary

We are looking to add a part-time Resident in Counseling to our growing team.This position is part-time, with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on individual performance and organizational needs. Employees who transition to full-time status are eligible for medical and dental insurancebenefits.Thisposition provides face to face and/or telehealth counseling to individuals, groups, adults, adolescents, and/or families with a primary focus onONEof the following areas:

• Children & Adolescents (ages 4-17)
• Couples and/or Families
• Trauma
• Christian Counseling

Residents must have a strong interest,passionandwillingness toin the area ofchoice and will be provided with training toimmediatelybegin expanding their skills in the specialty area.

Freedom Support cliniciansare responsible formaintainingyour caseload and completing all required documentation as governed by insurance and company policy.

This position is best suited for a counselor who is humble, mature, self-directed, organized, professional, friendly, practices self-care and empathetic to client needs. Flexible schedule & ability to set your own hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in face-to-face interactions as well as on social media.
• Complete intake assessments which include documentation such as Mental Status Exams, Biopsychosocial, PHQ-9 or 2, GAD, CSSRS Risk Assessment, etc.
• Maintain an average of 15 billable hours per week.
• Ability to offer a minimum of 3 evening appointments each week
• Effectively create and carry out treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
• Communicate with referral sources as well as Primary Care Physicians afterinitialintake
• Complete progress notes within 24hours of timeof service.
• Complete timesheet daily reflecting the billable hours worked.
• Maintain client’s charts and keep complete and correct documentation.
• Complete discharge summaries as required by insurance.
• Develop rapport with clientsin order tofacilitatea healthy professional relationship.
• Demonstrate growth in clinical competencies leading to independent licensure
• Accurately track progress towards residency as required by the state.
• Exercise sound clinical and professional judgment.

REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s Degree in Professional Counselingor related field from a CACREP Accredited Program (LPC, LPCC, CSW, LPA, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).
• 3+ years of full-time work experience in a clinical setting and/or educational setting
• 1+ year experience working with children/adolescents, couples & families, Christiancounselingand/or trauma
• Eligible for Residency in Virginia for LPC, LMFT, or LCSW licensure track
• Knowledge and clinical experience with children, teens, and/or adults with mental health issues (trauma, anxiety, transitional issues, parenting, depression, and mooddisordersetc.)
• Knowledge, clinical experience, and willingness to work with people from diverse communities related to race/ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, low socioeconomic status, ability, etc.
• Must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of counseling services.
• Must have knowledge of strategies for examining,applyingand evaluating cognitive/behavioral therapy concepts.Additionalskillsrequiredinclude thorough knowledge of the clinical aspects of the mental health field.
• This position is forChristiansburgoffice,withoptions for in-person, virtual only or a hybrid work schedule.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is $32 per billable hour. Payment is an hourly rate per billable hour. Clinical supervision provided towards licensure in Virginia.
