Job summary

Norwalk Care Center is seeking a Registered Dietitian to ensure the nutritional needs of residents are met. Join a team of healthcare professionals in a fast-paced long-term care setting.

The successful candidate will participate in diet changes, plan food service programs, and work closely with nursing and dietary staff to assess dietary needs and provide medical nutrition therapy recommendations.

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian with a degree from an accredited program.
• 1 year of experience in a long-term care setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the process of diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services.
• Plan and evaluate programs and activities of the Food Services Department, including food handling, sanitation, preparation, services, procedures, and equipment
• Ensure that charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of services provided and of resident's response to service
• Maintain an adequate liaison with families and residents as necessary
• Work with facility consultants to implement recommended changes as required
• Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors
• Meet with Dietary and Nursing staff as needed to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or improving services
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift
• Assist in developing preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the dietary needs of each resident
• Interpret and evaluate information on a patient's chart and make recommendations for appropriate medical nutrition therapy.
