Job summary

EASTERN HEALTH GROUP seeks an Activity Director for our Virginia skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and supervising resident activities that address social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs.

You will lead the activity program, manage staff, and ensure operations align with budgetary constraints and quality standards while promoting a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or NCCAP-certified activity director.
• Minimum 2 years in a social or recreational program, with at least 1 year full-time in a resident activities program in health care.
• Must ensure fair employment practices under federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Meet the physical and sensory requirements to perform duties.
• Identify process improvements to enhance resident experience and workflow.
• Lead management tasks including hiring, training, developing, coaching, counseling, and termination of staff.
• Develop and implement an activity program to meet residents' social, emotional, physical and therapeutic needs within budget.
• Initiate and promote in-house and external activities, ensuring resident safety at all times.
• Coordinate and verify assistance for activities and events as needed.
• Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend events.
• Create an ongoing activity calendar that meets diverse resident needs.
