Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee a multi-year water transmission program in the Chicagoland area. You will manage construction contractor performance, cost, and schedule while ensuring compliance with contract documents and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in multi-discipline construction projects, with water/wastewater exposure, strong communication, and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience on water/wastewater infrastructure projects in a Construction Management or Owner’s Representative role.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with construction-related communications, reports, photos, etc. software (Kahua, e-Builder or similar).
• Excellent organization skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Background check due to sensitive infrastructure work.

Responsibilities

• Act as support to Lead Resident Engineer and fill in when not available.
• Manage day-to-day construction management activities including payments, change orders, reports.
• Ensure work conforms to contract documents, specs, codes and safety standards.
• Coordinate with design staff for RFIs and submittals.
• Oversee field office staff and training needs.
• Lead weekly coordination meetings and site visits.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and stakeholders.
• Resolve non-conformances and oversee testing, startup and closeout.
