Job summary

Psomas in Northern California is seeking a Resident Engineer/Construction Manager to lead field activities on public works projects in Chico and surrounding areas. You will act as the owner's representative, guiding project delivery from pre-construction through closeout while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.

The role requires experience in civil/ CM, strong coordination with clients, inspectors, and contractors, and the ability to travel to multiple site locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• California PE license required; CCM or EIT with experience may be considered.
• Experience supporting construction management or owner's representative services for public works.
• Knowledge of contract documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and project controls.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field activities, contract administration, project documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
• Provide pre-construction services including bid-ability/constructability reviews and bidding.
• Oversee documentation management and respond to contractor claims, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Monitor field activities for compliance with plans, budget, schedule, safety, and quality.
• Coordinate with clients, owners, contractors, design teams, inspectors, subconsultants, utilities, and agencies.
• Guide field teams to support accurate documentation and successful delivery.
