Job summary

South Haven Health & Rehabilitation in Hoover, AL is seeking an enthusiastic Activities Assistant to brighten residents' days. This role supports planning activities, leading games, visits, decorating, and celebrations, helping residents stay engaged and connected throughout long-term care and rehab.

Qualifications

• Comfortable leading activities and interacting with groups.
• Comfortable with basic computer and keyboard functions.
• Organized and dependable.
• A strong communicator.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to perform essential physical functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activities Director with daily activities, programs, and special events.
• Lead and participate in group activities, games, crafts, celebrations, and social events.
• Help residents get to and from activities.
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who prefer or need to remain in their rooms.
• Encourage residents to participate based on their interests and abilities.
• Help prepare activity calendars, bulletin boards, decorations, and event materials.
• Record resident participation and responses to activities.
• Deliver resident mail and assist residents when needed.
• Help coordinate volunteers and community activities.
• Communicate resident needs or changes to the appropriate team members.
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Protect resident dignity, privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
• Help create a positive, welcoming environment throughout the facility.
