Job summary

KIPP New Jersey, part of the Knowledge Is Power Program network, is seeking a Director of School Operations in Residence in Newark. This full-time role starts immediately and offers a structured Residency accelerator to develop DSO-ready skills, with placement at host schools and leadership coaching from senior leaders.

The program prepares you for a future DSO role, including mid-year placement opportunities and exposure to district-wide operational domains, with a strong focus on delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Demonstrated student achievement results from leaders that the leader manages and coaches.
• Ability to develop and manage multiple projects with ambiguity.
• Ability to troubleshoot and manage high-stress situations with calm and positivity.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Foundational knowledge in DSO domains: finance & purchasing, academic ops, student recruitment, technology, facilities, vendor mgmt, nutrition, compliance, schoolwide systems.
• Adept at data analysis; extract insights across school-wide data using pertinent software applications.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a current DSO and take on leadership responsibilities at host campuses.
• Participate in Residency accelerator program with formal learning and coaching.
• Mid-year application for available DSO roles for the forthcoming school year.
• Design and implement systems supporting daily operations, academic operations, purchasing, compliance, and facilities.
• Lead and coach teams to achieve data-driven strategic goals.
• Manage external partners to ensure smooth operation of systems.
