Job summary

Sapphire of Northwoods in Belvidere, IL is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist in the Dietary Department with meal service and cleanliness. The role reports to the Dietary Manager and may assist the cook.

Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma, willingness to handle routine tasks with interruptions, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Prior institutional dietary experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate
• Previous institutional dietary service experience preferred
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Flexible hours including emergencies
• Patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager
• Assist the cook in preparation and service of meals
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department Policy and Procedures
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts and serving meals
• Set up the dining room and serve residents
• Wash and store dishes
• Follow established reporting procedures for supplies and equipment needs
• Report damaged or loose fixtures, safety concerns, and HIPAA compliance
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies
• Follow facility fire and disaster plans and infection control policies
• Treat all residents with kindness, dignity and respect
• Report grievances and complaints to the Dietary Manager
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager
